BLACK BOX
You’re probably thinking about awful plane crashes when you see the words ‘black box’. Ironically, the black box is usually coloured a bright orange. Black objects can be a bit hard to find after a plane crash after all. Weirdly enough, black boxes used to be black though. That’s where their name comes from. But for many people a plane’s black box remains the same as a black box within engineering: an object of which we understand the input and output but not the working itself. Because how does a black box truly function?
